Stephen Martin:
Managing Partner
Born and raised in the Greater Boston area, Stephen began his career in real estate way back when he was about 12 years old. He would go to work for his father’s construction company during the summer breaks. He continued this tradition all the way through college, eventually paying his way through college. When asked about his summer job he responded, “In the summer I was getting my degree in Construction and in the Winter I was getting my degree in Business, I graduated with 2 degrees in 4 years." Perhaps this attitude is what catapulted Stephen to the top of his field.
Upon graduating from Norwich University, the oldest private military college in the United States where he excelled in both academics and athletics, he immediately headed out West to Southern California and jumped right into the largest real estate boom in California history. While in Southern California, Stephen mentored with one of the Nations Top Real Estate Brokers in the country, where he gained an immeasurable amount of knowledge and hands on experience. He not only made an immediate impact on others around him but he created an investment program specifically for investors that helped launch an already Top Performing company in California to a National status level doing a consistent $150 million in annual sales in several different states.
After gaining an enormous amount of knowledge in real estate sales, he wanted to broaden his horizons so he switched gears and jumped into another explosive market, the refinance boom. “During the last few years working in the Mortgage Industry it really opened my eyes to a lot of different aspects of the mortgage world. I realized how ignorant I was to all the different loan products that are available and how many of them are geared towards real estate investors.
Nowadays, Stephen is back in Boston with his beautiful family, where he manages S.J. Martin Consulting, named after his son, and his own investments. He is also a licensed real estate agent with Casten Associates."I enjoy what I do because I like the flexibility of working in an office and working outside looking at property. I also genuinely really like to help people succeed and help them to understand that real estate is a great investment vehicle and is not that volatile if you know and understand the basic fundamentals
Mike Ciavarinni:
Mortgage Strategist, Branch Owner
My back ground features degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science. I enjoyed a rewarding career spanning 20 years as self employed computer scientist/consultant. I then became a Division Director for Robert Half International to run their technology recruiting division. I have been a landlord for over 15 years and I’ve successfully run huge Network Marketing groups for over 10 years.
Entering the mortgage industry I was literally shocked at the lack of professionalism, training, and regulations there are surrounding such an important aspect of a person’s financial life. This industry is like the wild wild west where the consumer is left to figure it all out. Unfortunately a mortgage can be described over the phone as so complicated; it is easy to be swindled. Most people hear one thing, when do we close, what’s my rate, and when can I cash the check. At the closing table it is seldom what was promised but the need for the cash-out and the level of anxiety to get this far forces the client to accept the loan even though it is not right. This is unfair practice and it happens every day.
